What does a Geocaching Snowman do in all four seasons? You will find out over the next few months! Tom Jones has been painting with transparent watercolors for 30 years. He enjoys painting whimsical characters of snowmen in scenes that warm the heart. Jones uses his own photos to capture the light and shadows of his creations as well as his imagination for his snowfolk. He is an associate member of the Missouri Watercolor Society, as well as a member of ArtCentral and Spiva Center for the Arts. Jones has won several local awards including Best of Show 2001 and 2003 at ArtCentral, and Best of Show at the Thomas Hart Benton Competition in 2004 as well as the People’s Choice Award at the Lamar Fair in 2008. Tom also has work in private homes and on display at Cherry’s Custom Frames and Gallery. “The idea of lifting someone’s spirit or giving them a laugh (which is a blessing) to possibly make their day better has always been important to me, I hope my art does that.” He and his family are noobies at geocaching but love to get outdoors together and enjoy the hunt. He hopes that the combination of drawing snowmen and the love of geocaching will be appreciated in this new series of coins. Tom has a different set of wonderful snowman prints at Penny Lane Publishing.
